Young Eagles 2009 - Event #1
Young Eagles 2009 - Event #1
What a great day was had by all. This year’s first event saw 135 young eagles achieve their first flight.
The event was held in a hangar provided by the Stuart Jet Center who also generously provided the fuel for the event. Thanks also to Papa Zs pizza who donated some delicious pizzas for the event.
Chapter members worked hard providing line support, escort duty, food and of course the all important first flight certificate. see the Event Album for photos of the days activities. We had 8 planes on the line ranging from twin engine to exotic two seaters.
We also had great coverage from local media sources:
TC Palm.com - Young Eagles Soar & announcement article Free flights for Kids
GA TV Online - See The video Here
Thanks to chapter members, their families and everyone involved in the event for all their hard work and dedication to this important initiative. See below some of the comments by parents posted on TC palm.com.
Just got back, the kids (girls 11, 12 and 13) had a excellent time. They were so excited when they got off the plane, I couldn't keep up with what they were saying. They go to ride in a 1952 Cessna 195, the pilot was great and explained every thing to them. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and planes it was a wonderful experience.
My kids flew in the 1952 Cessna 195 and they had a blast!!!! The pilot was so patient and knowledgeable. Both of my kids had a turn to fly the plane- they couldn't stop talking about it! Kudos to the the event planners- it was very well run! I can't say enough about this program. We will participate again! Thank you to all the volunteers who made this amazing experience possible for our kids.
